Player FAQs

Will playing in the CBL effect my college eligibility?

No, the CBL is FULLY complaint with the NCAA student-athlete amateur status rules. Playing in our league will not effect your eligibility if you are a Walk-On Player member because you do not get any cash prizes or extra benefits for those membership levels. If you are a current college player we recommend that you get approval to play in our league from your school's Athletic Director and/or Head Coach.

When does the league in my city start?

The CBL Exposure League is year-round. Be sure to opt-in to the player email news alert so you can get notifications about cities we have leagues going in. Official team practices begin the third week of the quarterly season and actual league play starts the fourth week within the start of the quarterly season. Click here to request the quarterly and weekly team and league schedule be emailed to you.

How much does it cost to play in the league?

All players are required to purchase a CBL player membership that ranges in cost based on membership level that a player selects. We encourage all players that have not been drafted to a CBL team to start at the Walk-On Player membership level and upgrade their membership "after" they get drafted to a team. However, after you become a Walk-On Player member, upgrading is not mandatory . If you do not see the team or the team owner's information on the Official National CBL Website, we strongly recommend that you do not make any type of commitments to the team or team owner because they are not an official CBL team or team owner. If a team and team owner's information is on our website, they are an official CBL team in our league.

Can Team Owners and GMs trade players to another team?

Yes, as of the new 2018 team ownership license plans players can be traded to another team if the team owners so choose. Players can also be waived from a team and put back into the player draft pool of available players. No player trades will be allowed during the final two weeks of the league. The administrative fee for a player trade is $50.00 per player and the fee must be paid by Wednesday of each week during league play.

What happens after I make my player membership or gift certificate payment?

After you make your membership or gift certificate payment you will be emailed the player on-boarding information. Your membership gift certificate will also be mailed to you within 7 to 14 business days. You will need to fill out and submit the player draft application. You will then be placed in the player draft pool. When the player draft opens Team Owners, General Managers, and Head Coaches will be allowed to go into the CBL draft pool and draft players for their teams. The teams are only allowed to draft players that are registered members. The player draft will take place the first 30 days of each quarter season. The team roster will be posted on the national league after the team owner submits the final team roster to the CBL corporate office.

The CBL has year round quarterly seasons every 3 months. Our league seasons are 1st Quarter Season January - March, 2nd Quarter Season April - June, 3rd Quarter Season July - August, 4th Quarter Season September - December. If you join in the middle of the season you will still be required to pay the full membership amount.

All sales are final! Start with the Walk-On Player membership if you want to test the league first. We do not offer a refund on any player membership gift certificates or team ownership licenses because you will gain login access to our league's proprietary and intellectual business information and property located in the Players Locker Room or Team/League Owners Front Office. We also pre-order customized uniforms and other business equipment. The CBL cannot get a refund from its vendors once a pre-order has been placed. A player membership or team or league license will not start until the player, team, or leagues start playing actual games or business operations.
